BRass NG Building Ideas... Building Communities...
The Business Community Upskilling Project (B-CUP) is a flagship initiative of the Budget Advocacy & Reforms Association (BRAss) designed to empower entrepreneurs and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) across Northern Nigeria with the skills, tools, and resources needed for sustainable business growth. Recognizing the critical role of MSMEs in driving economic development and reducing unemployment, B-CUP focuses on addressing systemic challenges such as financial literacy, access to credit, and operational inefficiencies within the business community.
A unique feature of the project is the integration of the Access to Credit & Performance Stimulus (ACPS) program, which equips participants with the knowledge and capacity to access formal credit facilities, manage loans effectively, and build strong financial profiles. This component is complemented by intensive training sessions on business planning, marketing strategies, and leveraging digital tools to expand market reach.
B-CUP combines a dynamic mix of in-person workshops, online capacity support via platforms like WhatsApp, and ongoing mentorship to ensure that participants receive tailored support throughout their entrepreneurial journey. The project prioritizes inclusivity, targeting women, youth, and marginalized groups, while focusing on high-impact sectors such as agriculture, renewable energy, and ICT.
Through B-CUP, BRAss aims to create a more resilient and competitive business ecosystem in Northern Nigeria, fostering job creation, economic diversification, and community development. The initiative also serves as a catalyst for innovation, connecting local entrepreneurs to larger markets and funding opportunities, and contributing to the broader goal of regional economic empowerment.
